History

Established in 1949 as a Jewish community school at Menorah Center in Boyle Heights, LAHHS has grown to be one of the largest Jewish supplementary schools in the United States that offers high school foreign language credit.  LAHHS currently serves as the school of choice for many students in 7th-12th grades throughout and around all of Los Angeles County.

Los Angeles Hebrew High School has established innovative and exciting educational programs that include

  • Hebrew language instruction,

  • Study of biblical and rabbinic texts,

  • Academic electives on select Jewish themes,

  • Study of Jewish values,

  • Study of the history of Zionism

  • Israel advocacy training

In addition, we are proud to be “twinned” with Ironi Dalet High School in Tel Aviv as part of the Jewish Federation’s Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Partnership Program.

Through a vibrant collaboration among our outstanding Board of Trustees, superb teaching faculty, dedicated office staff members, and committed parent and student body, LAHHS has become a center for high quality Jewish learning in Southern California.

We are a dynamic community-wide school that honors our long, impressive history while continuously expanding and improving to keep pace with the changing times.
