Rabbi Hilel and Chana Rudavsky were the parents of Dr. Amittai Benami, the Head of School at Los Angeles Hebrew High School.
Chana (Wolman) Rudavsky was born in Jerusalem in the year 1924. She immigrated to America as a teenager, and was very active in Zionist youth groups in New York, as well as the Hebrew language camping movement at Camp Massad. A Rebbetzin, the beloved Imma of four children, a weaver of tallitot, an artist in Jewish needlepoint and crafts. After the passing away of her husband, she made Aliya back home at the age of 83, until health concerns required her to return to be under the care and watch of her daughter, Avima, in New Jersey, until her passing away Erev Shabbat, February 25th, 2016.
Rabbi Hilel Rudavsky was born in New York . He and Chana met in Hanoar Ha-Ivri, a Zionist youth movement. A devoted Hebraist who published in HaDoar, and the author of the Hebrew-English Camp Massad dictionary, he received his rabbinic ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary and during his career served as spiritual leader of several Jewish congregations in the United States until his passing away in 1996.
The family of Hilel and Chana have established this fund in their memory. The scholarship fund will be used to provide tuition funds for students based on need and/or academic achievement.
